Director General of Prisons inspects Sub Jail Reasi

Srinagar (Kashmir) - J&K, July 24th '2012:“ Sh. Navin Agarwal, Director General of Prisons Jammu & Kashmir, paid a visit to the Sub Jail Reasi on 24.07.2012. On reaching the J&K Armed Police personnel presented arms.

He was accompanied by R.S. Tara Addl. Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Roghbir Singh SSP Reasi, Mohd Sharief Chouhan Addl. SP Reasi, Gopal Singh Tehsildar Reasi, Jagdesh Singh DYSP HQRS Reasi, M. Ayoub Bhat Superintendent, District jail Udhampur, Virender Razdon Technical Officer and NHPC Project Chief Engineer.

Sh. Agarwal had a round of the barracks, interacted with the inmates and asked them about the behaviour of the staff and legitimate facilities being provided. The inmates expressed their satisfaction. On the spot instructions were issued to the Technical Officer to undertake repairs and renovations wherever it needed. The Director General assured the inmates that all efforts will be done to improve their living conditions and Jail authorities will be provided all basic amenities.

On this occasion a darbar was also held in which the staff members put forth their grievances responding to which Sh. Agarwal assured Prison personnel of early redressal. The Director General stressed upon the Prison staff to maintain discipline and to work with utmost commitment while department is already have been taken every steps for their promotion avenues.

Sh. Agarwal visited Bidda, 12 Kms from Reasi where more than 50 kanals of land is being proposed for the establishment of new District Jail Reasi. The lodgment capacity of new District Jail will be 200 inmates including of one female barrack.
