DG Prisons for more reformatory, rehabilitation measures for jail inmates
Srinagar (Kashmir) - J&K, October 17 th '2013: Director General Prisons Jammu and Kashmir Shri K. Rajendra Kumar –IPS, today visited Udhampur Jail to review the security of the jail, and take stock of facilities being provided to the inmates. The DG Prisons was accompanied by DIG, Udhampur, Reasi Range Shri Gareeb Dass, ADC, Udhampur Shri Vikas Sharma, Additional S.P Udhampur Shri Benam Tosh, C.O CRPF Shri Mukesh Kumar and Jail Superintendent Shri Bushan Lal Bali.
The DG Prisons visited the barracks, including ladies barrack and interacted with the inmates. He also enquired about the different facilities being provided to them. The DG Prisons while emphasizing up on them the need of having cordial relations with one another advised them to strengthen mutual brother hood. He assured that all legitimate help will be provided and more efforts will be put in to improve the living conditions of the inmates. The DG Prisons visited the langar, vocational training centre, the jail hospital and also the sports activity places,. He laid stress on more and more reformatory, recreational and rehabilitation measures for the jail inmates.
The DG Prisons also held a security review meeting wherein he directed the officers to maintain a foolproof security of the jail and keep a close vigil to thwart any untoward incident.
The DG Prisons will visit more jails in next few days across the state to take a review of the security and the amenities being provided to the inmates.
