Sh. S.P. Vaid, IPS assumes charge as
Director General of Prisons, J&K
Jammu - J&K, March 8th '2015: Sh. S.P. Vaid, IPS took over the charge of Director General of Police, Prisons, J&K Jammu from Sh. S.K. Mishra, IPS. A 1986 batch IPS Officer borne on the J&K Cadre, Sh. S.P. Vaid, IPS has served the state in different capacities which include SSP Budgam & Udhampur, DIG Jammu Range, DIG Central Kashmir Range, DIG North Kashmir Baramulla, DIG (Adm) PHQ, IGP (Modernization PHQ), IGP Jammu Zone, IGP Crime, J&K. He also served in Govt. of India for about three years as Director (Training/Administration) BPR&D, MHA.
On repatriation upon promotion he joined J&K Police Headquater as Addl. DGP (HQ) and served for four years and three months since Nov. 2011. On his promotion as DGP he joined as DGP Prisons, J&K today. He has also undergone various trainings with LAPD & FBI Los Angeles (USA) and UK Police, Bramshill and MCTP, New York.
On his joining, a guard of honour was presented to him by the J&K Prison Personnel. In a meeting held today in his Office Chambers he emphasized on building a vibrant and transparent organization and said that reformation and rehabilitation of prisoners shall be the focus besides infrastructure development and augmentation of security.
