Director General Prisons visits District Jail Baramulla
Baramulla - J&K, June 16 th '2016: Director General Prisons S.P Vaid paid a visit to District Jail Baramulla today. He was accompanied by DIG Prisons Dr.Muhammad Sultan Lone, DIG NKR Utam Chand, SSP Baramulla Mir ImtiyazHussain, Superintendent Jail BaramullaMushtaq Ahmad Malla and other Officers. This was first visit of the Director General of Police Prisons J&K Shri S.P Vaid to District Jail Baramulla since he took over the charge of Director General of Police Prisons J&K.
He took stock of the various security and administrative arrangements of the Jail, as well as needs of repair and renovation. He also checked the working of CCTV cameras installed for security purposes in the CCTV Control room that remains operational round the clock.
Later he paid visit to all the barracks of the Jail, jail Hospital, Vocational Centre. While interacting with prisoners, the DGP enquired about the facilities being provided to inmates especially food and medical facilities. He listened to issues and grievances and found that prisoners were mostly satisfied with the arrangement and facilities provided by Jail administration to them.
Director General of Prisons also directed technical team to repair and renovate the jail kitchen and directed Superintendent jail Baramulla for arranging interest based vocational courses for engaging Jail inmates. He said that educational and vocational training play a vital role in reformation and rehabilitation of inmates and the Department’s top priority is to provide job skills to the inmates. He further informed that the Prison Headquarter has taken up the matter regarding trainings with many Govt Departments, institutions and NGOs for the welfare of inmates.
