DGP Prisons visits Uttar Pradesh Prison Headquarters; interacts with detenues from J&K at District Jail Lucknow

Jammu - J&K, January 19th 2020: V. K Singh, IPS, DGP Prisons, J&K visited Prison Headquarter at Lucknow on Saturday,18 January where he was briefed by senior officers regarding the working of the headquarter which supervises 72 jails of UP accomodating more than 1 lac inmates. The new Jail Headquarter has been established in the training centre premises which is one of the oldest jail training centres in the country. He visited the jail museum and jail control room where he was conducted by DIG Headquarters, Love Kumar.

At present 220 detenues from J&K are lodged in six jails of Uttar Pradesh. V.K. Singh appreciated the efforts of UP jail authorities to enable mulakat & providing proper health care to the detenues in need. V. K. Singh also visited the 17 detenues belonging to J&K lodged in District Jail Lucknow. He interacted with them to inquire of their health, etc. V. K Singh was informed that the detenues are regularly having mulakat with their relatives and regular health check-ups are conducted. In case(s) of health issues; the detenues are provided proper medication under supervision of specialists.

According to an official statement, DGP Prisons, J&K shall be taking up the matter regarding e-mulaqat with the Uttar Pradesh Jail administration to enable Kashmir based relatives to interact with the detenues lodged in UP Jails over video-conference.
